Bird Flu Flies the Coop

According to a report I just heard on NPR's Morning Edition, 2006 saw no (zero, nada, ziltch) deaths due to Bird Flu in the US.

On the other hand, there were deaths due to an alleged vaccine to prevent it.

As long as the "News" media is dominated by sensationalism this country will continue in its almost untouchable cynicism.

I think the information came from Lou Dobbs, of Foreign Policy Magazine.

Sorry to tell you this, but you are mistaken. The H5N1 virus is currently growing at more than twice the rate of the last year.

So far, there have been 156 human fatalities that we know of, as a direct result of the bird flu virus. (and this from a BIRD virus which is not supposed to be killing people)

There may have been no deaths due to the H5N1 virus in the US, but there were twice the number of bird flu related deaths this year than there were last year.

ON Monday of this week, the South Korean Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, announced the country's THIRD positive bird flu outbreak in the last 3 weeks.

This is after South Korea had just completed culling hundreds of thousands of poultry from two earlier outbreaks.

Not quite the bird flu's disappearance, the "Experts" have been pondering on now is it?

However, on the positive side of things, if and when the H5N1 virus does mutate in to a human virus, an unprecedented amount of global medical expertise, will work together, to find a vaccine for the pandemic flu virus as soon as possible.

Sooooo, where exactly was I mistaken. You admit there were no deaths in the US. That was my claim. Thank you for taking the time to write and confirm that I was correct. "you are mistaken" is a strange way to open such a message though.

You can go report back to the Mother Ship now.

I wish you years of being mistaken.
